Free economic zone in Kaunas

FEZ in Kaunas was established in 1996 and now is planning to become the most attractive zone for doing business in Europe. The representative of the Spanish aviation and logistic company ALG Europraxis, who is planning to set up the base in this area, said: “The free economic zone in Kaunas is unique and, if we take into consideration a significant number of criteria, it has virtually no competitors in Europe.”
There are 8 companies operating in the territory of the free economic zone in Kaunas, and 8 projects will be realized in the nearest future. The total investments are more than EUR 300 million, while the number of created jobs is 600, another 451 jobs will be created in the future.
This year Lithuanian company Pienas LT is planning to set up a factory in the free economic zone in Kaunas and thus will invest nearly EUR 9 million. Russian high-tech company Rokor will invest EUR 12 million to open a factory for the production of industrial sapphires in the area, that will create 30 new jobs, and in future, the number of employees will be increased to 68. Rokor will work with the Technological University in Kaunas for the training of new employees.
